Future continuous tense
The future continuous tense (also called future progressive tense) is made with will / shall + be + -ing.
Affirmative
- I will be working.
- They will be working.
- You will be working.
Negative
- I will not be working.
- They will not be working.
- You will not be working.
Question
- Will I be working?
- Will they be working?
- Will you be working?
Uses
The future continuous tense is used to say that something will be in progress at a particular moment in the future.
- This time tomorrow I will be working in the garden.
- ‘Can I come and see you at 5 o’clock.’ ‘No, please, don’t come then. I will be watching the tennis match on TV.’
The future continuous is also used to talk about future events which are already planned.
- I will be staying here till Monday.
- She will be coming soon.
The future continuous tense can also be used to predict the present.
- Don’t phone them now – they will be having dinner.
